Read John 7:40-52
On hearing his words some of the people said,
"Surely this man is the Prophet."
Others said, He is the Messiah."
Still others asked, "How can the Messiah come from Galilee? Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David's descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?"
Thus the people were divided because of Jesus.
Those who offered their opinions about Jesus so long ago are still with us today. People are still divided because of Jesus. Many people's minds are made up as to who they think Jesus is...a myth, a fraud, a great teacher, the Prophet, or the Messiah. How do we decide who Jesus is? We have to rely on the word of God, the Holy Bible! We need to read, re-read, study, and pray about what we read in the Bible. We must go to the source to really learn what Jesus said about himself. What he said and the question he puts before you and me is this: Do you believe that Jesus is the long expected Messiah of God, the Savior of all who will believe?
Heavenly Father, please help us and guide us to make up our minds about your precious son.
Help us to truly believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Savior of the world. In his holy name we pray. Amen.
